Hello Reader, 🍵 It’s Monday morning, and I’m sitting at my desk with a cup of tea, watching the light shift through my office window. There’s something about Mondays that always feels like both too much and not enough at the same time — like being handed a blank canvas while also staring down a mountain of expectations. Maybe you know the feeling? 🖋 Last Week’s Creative Spiral: Browser tabs multiplying like rabbits. Notion pages half-filled with ideas. That creeping sensation of doing everything and nothing at once. Classic creative overwhelm, right? But I started this ridiculously simple practice that’s been weirdly anchoring, and I wanted to share it with you in case your week feels a bit untethered too. 🗓 The Tiny Yellow Anchor: It’s just a single yellow post-it note with “WMM” at the top — What Matters Most. Not a fancy system. Not color-coded or templated. Just a humble sticky square where I write down the three things that actually need my attention this week. This week mine says: ✔️ Edit Client Podcast That’s it. Everything else can either delegated, deferred, or decided against. And honestly? The relief is immediate. There’s something so clarifying about handwriting on actual paper that digital lists just can’t capture. (And if “post-it” feels too official, a scrap of paper or the back of a receipt works just as well.) 🌸 Springtime Adventures: Speaking of stepping away from screens — I did something slightly wild this weekend. Despite my notorious pollen allergies (armed with approximately seventeen tissues), I ventured out to the arboretum while everything was in full bloom. Sometimes the things we avoid because they might be uncomfortable end up being exactly what we need. (There’s definitely a metaphor there about creative work and starting despite the resistance, but I’ll let you connect those dots yourself.) 😉 💬 Your Turn: So tell me — what are your three things that matter most this week? (If you feel like sharing, I’d love to hear.) And when was the last time you did something despite the discomfort because you knew it would fill your creative well? Here’s to a week where we focus on what matters — and maybe brave a little discomfort for something beautiful. With warmth and possibly still some pollen, Marissa |
